I have some Neomeris groing in my tank. It came in on some live rock I added and it has grown a bit. I moved the rock to the refugium until I could figure out what it was. Is this a pest, safe for display, or safe in refugium?

Neomeris is a very calcareous algae and not much eats it. I can spread very quickly if your tank has lots of excess nutrients and high lighting. If your willing to do a bit of "thinning the herd" frequently then I wouldn't worry about it. If you leave it in the sump I wouldn't worry at all.

I actually wouldn't mind having some in my DT if you decide to thin out or completely remove.

^^^^^^ +10 at least on the first paragraph. Ive had it in my display and it was fine for a while but if you don't keep up on maintenance it can get away from you quick. Dropping your nutrients back down will cause it to die back but the die off can feed them and make them come back again.

If you are good at keeping your tank maintained then I wouldn't worry about them at all.

I like the look of it. Very unique. I've only had little sprigs of it from time to time, but OMG, I've never had it like this guy. Shocked

Aloha,
Mark  Hug

P.S. I think that tank is awesome. Wink
