Getting ready to aquascape my tank, and was thinking of putting egg crate under the rock. I saw some corrugated plastic, looks Judy like card board but plastic. Any one ever use anything like this for under their rockwork, or do you think it could cause problems down the road?
It's super rigid and durable. But difficult to keep clean, always builds up detritus. It's actually used under sand bed to prevent the rocks from hitting the bottom glass.
One food for thought. I know someone who did the egg crate under their sand and absolutely hated it because it was so hard to clean the sand and it trapped lots of gunk in it. Also, the cleanup didn't clean or sift the sand down in the egg crate but only on top. When he redid his tank, he didn't do any egg crate. Just something to consider when your laying it out.
Thanks hogie, that's why I was leaning towards something different, because I have heard a few stores like that. I put the corrugated plastic down under my base rocks, hopefully I don't have too many issues with that :)
