I hate to say this without knowing the background but that frag is probably toast. I would give it like a 1% chance of pulling through. When acans start receding from the edges, it is almost a guaranteed goner.
That does look like an acan to me. Put it in low light and moderate flow. Make sure your Magnesium is around 1350 and try feeding it. Spray some food around it and then see if any feeding tentacles come out.
Most people don't know that acans really need to be fed to survive long term in our aquariums. In the wild, they are voracious eaters and light really ins't enough for them to thrive.

For what it's worth, it does look to me like it is starting to come back and not on it's way out. I once had an acan completely die off and it had a cool leather on the same rock so I left the skeleton in there and it is coming back nicely about a year later. I'll try to get a pic of it today to post.

What?! You pooped in the refrigerator, and ate the entire wheel of cheese?! I'm not even mad.... That's actually amazing!

That's sweet chad!
That is why I was hesitant without knowing the full story. It may be coming back and the receding is done? I've had some corals come back from the brink of death, they just need extra care

Awesome little coral! I have a neon candy cane that I rescued. It was down to half a head and not looking good. I spot fed it for the first few months and now a year later it has about 10 heads. Corals can be tough little buggers if they're in the right environment!
