So I have a rock with some eagle eye zoanthids. However the rock months later produced these palys that are not as nice as the zoathids. I am not sure what the palys below are called or even if they are worth anything. I was going to eventually rip them off the rock unless someone can convince me there is some worth in keeping them. If you know what they are called let me know. Thanks

Look like Cinnamon palythoas to me.

Do you like them? Keep 'em.

Do you find them ugly? Get rid of them.

They probably sell for around $5 a polyp, if that's what you're bottom line is.

I have several places in my tank with different zoo's intermingeled. However, what I've noticed is Paly's will overtake the zoo's. They seem to just a little bigger and over time will choke them out.(oaks vs maples) Whatever they are they look pretty cool!

That is my concern with the paly's is that they overtake the zoanthids. I watched some vids on how to frag zoas/palys, and I will try to move the palys to another rock and see what happens.

Those look a lot like Blundell Buttons. They are quite valuable actually. They tend to be different colors in different lighting. Sometimes a lot of green mottling and even purple.
Officially they are Protopalythoa Grande, but were named Blundell Buttons ~14 years ago after the person that brought them to the attention of the hobby, around this locale anyway. Embarrassed The reason I know this is because Adam gave me some of the first ones he collected.

Maybe I will see if there is anyone at the University that could come to my office at the University to identify these! Wink
