Topic: Crab ID Posted: January 11 2009 at 6:52pm |
Found this little guy in the sump hanging on the filter sock.
He was more pink and cream when I first saw him, but then he crawled in the filter sock... which I was taking out (figures).
He is TINY. Maybe an 1 1/2 inches leg to leg. His body is flat, speckled, and triangle shaped with his little black eyes are far apart at the "corners" of his body. He has pink and white striped legs that have hairs, but are fuzzy. He has little pointed claws the curve inward.
I assume not reef safe so back in the sumo he goes.
Really bad pic (where is Mike when you need him )

Thanks Steve. That was inspiring.
Not a sally light foot. I've had one of those.
Maybe it's the aliens... they brought me an outer space crab.

Deffinately NOT a sally lightfoot.
It's the wrong color and the sally lightfoot had a rounded square body, this one has a triangular one.

It is hard to tell from the picture but from what you describe could it be some type of anemone crab or Hawaiian crab or maybe a boxing crab? The sally lightfoot does have striped legs but they are more yellow and brown not pink and white. It is hard to say, could be something I have no pictures of.
