Is this an asterina star? It seems too big, since it's 1/2" across. The patterning is also a bit different than others I've seen.

it does look like an astrea, i had one about that size in my tank as well. i got him out.

Rarely do Asterina bother anything. They are cleaners.
Only once in my long experience did they cause problems. They were eating the base of a Pom Pom Xenia. They were extremely easy to remove. I picked them off of the Xenia every morning for a few days until all the misbehaving Asterina were gone. Smile
