Topic: Aquarium top Posted: November 30 2012 at 9:10pm |
I'm planning on making an aquarium top in the future for my 55. To keep fish from jumping out is the main reason and also would like to do it the cheapest way possible. I was thinking of doing it out it acylic or glass. Would this work?
Here is the link on the type of acylic http://m.homedepot.com/p/OPTIX-23-75-in-x-47-75-in-Clear-Acrylic-Light-Panel-1A20083A/100550880/

I made a screen top for the top of mine. I bought 1/4 inch netting from the aquarium and a window screen kit from lowes. was pretty simple and cheap. here is a link to bulk reef supply, their is a video that explains.

I Just did a 30" X 24" top for my rimless and frame and netting was like $15 total. And $5 for the tool to push the webbing in the slot (webbing is the rubber that holds netting in the slot) I bought 2 yards of netting from hobby lobby for $2.56 that was included in the $15

Go with the netting as a solid surface will restrict the oxygen that gets into your tank. If you only plan.to have large fish, you can use egg crate, but it is big enough to allow smaller fish to jump through.

The reason that I'm building a top is that my diamond goby jump out if the tank after a few nights of bring introduce. And I wanted to add another one but I don't want it to jump out. I will probably do netting instead. Thank you for your responses
