I have a Crocea clam that has always seemed healthy since Ive had it. I have tried several time getting it to sit mid level in the tank on the rocks but it always moves itself down to the bottom in the sand.... so ive left it there. It has always had a bit of clear mucus slime coming out from underneath it so I figured it was normal. Lately I moved it in the sand and it seems to have more coming out worse than before. What is this junk?

It may be part of its foot?
I try to keep my clams on rocks, even if they are small rocks that are not very far out of the sand....it seems to keep some of the crabs and worms away from them...Can you take a pic?
