I get back yesterday from a business trip to find my once very alive/growing birdsnest frag dead! It looks like it fell from where I had it and landed on the zoos and was stung to death. I'll be educating the wife about these sorts of things for when I'm away.

and here's why most hate aptasia...

I had a similar thing happen with brown mushrooms.  I had an orange monti frag that fell on it, and it turned almost completely white.  After I moved it off it did recover, but sorry for the lose.

As you can see in the picture, there is just a very small peice at one of the tips that still has some color... hope it survives.

You can pretty much bet that it will survive. Often, even a seemingly "totally dead" coral surprises it's owners, if it's circumstances are improved just a little.

Something that is surprising to me that sting is the really fuzzy woods polyps. I'm having more trouble with those than any other coral in my tank. They are stinging one of my leathers right now.

Woods polyps are beautiful with their long thin "tentacles" flowing in the current and they grow like weeds for me, but they are pretty agressive. It's nice that they are usually quite easy to rip off/tear back away from other coral.
