You could do an area-specific tank. Diana Tabor has good info about that. Basically, the idea behind that is to get corals from one part of the ocean & stick to them. That way, they should be fairly happy together. But that's one of those "nice ideas" that goes to the wayside when you start seeing pretty corals that you just gotta have.
Time for you to visit a couple of peoples' tanks, I'd say. Green star polyps, woods polyps, yellow polyps, gorgonians, & green nepthea have all been easy for me. Xenia was easy for a while, and then suddenly I couldn't keep any of it. But it's better now.
So... it all comes down to what you like, and then figuring out whether what you like is workable in your tank.
