Topic: Frag Fest - Add Used Equipment? Posted: December 27 2008 at 12:53pm |
For the January fest swap, what about adding stuff like used equipment, plumbing supplies, test kits, etc?
I'm getting ready to clean out the closet and I know I will have lots of extras that I really don't need any more.

If I remember right they did that one year but I don't remember if it was at a frag swap or if it was a swap meet meeting. I think it was awesome and went home with a few things I needed.

This will not be a swap meet. It is a frag swap which helps generate revenue for the club.

That is what I meant. Why not include equipment?

Are you saying you'd donate the items, and then the club could sell them? If that is the case, I think we should strongly consider that!
In the past we've had equipment trades and swaps where people could trade or sell their stuff... but the club didn't get anything for it.

Sure. Not sure what yet, but I have a fish room that I need to clean out this week. Could even make several grab bags of plumbing stuff.

I definetly agree that the frag swap should be intended just for raising money for the club. I think its a great idea to add dry good dontations.
That beind said I always liked the swap meet meetings as well. They are a great benifit for members.

When you have had the swap meets in the past, did you charge a fee to participate? Could be a percentage of sells or a flat fee that would also bring in $$ for the club.

We never charged or took percentages for swap meets. Just a fun meeting for club members (probably have one again in the spring).
But if you are willing to donate something to the club... we're willing to take it!

I also have a ton of 'extra' plumbing parts I could throw in, even a few buckets of stuff, buckets included. I have stuff from three or four of my old tanks, even old lights {that might still work}. But to do it for $15 for the whole bucket, or something like that would not be a bad idea.

Thanks Jerry. I'm all for it. We'll be sure to include this in the announcement posts so everyone knows they can bring things for us.
