Topic: My new lights are on the way Posted: July 21 2004 at 6:04am |

I just got off the internet and my new 250 10K MH will be here Friday... I will be running 3 250 watt 10K bulbs on a 120. 48x24x24 I really should not need to add anymore lighting right??? The other would be added for color only with no real benefits from the spectrums???

If you are running only three 250 watt 10k's, then I think you need more light. (Adam's comment comes at the surprise of no one)
But at least more blue light. Maybe you have some, but you didn't mention it.

Connie, will you still be running the PCs ?
All full spectrum (or even heavily blue) light, be it MH, VHO or PC, will be of benefit to the corals. Those blueline 10k bulbs you're running are very blue for 10k. They're almost a 20k to me. (ADAM, this is a bulb you should check out, you might really like it. It's brighter then 20k, but much bluer then normal 10k). So you may still like PC or VHO supplementation... for the looks, but the corals will still benefit from it.
I really should not need to add anymore lighting right???
If I had a dime for everytime I've said or thought that Actually, you will have lots of light with three 750 watts of MH.

Adam, I got them at the Aquarium. They are called blue lines call and ask them. You are more then welcome to come see mine.. They are so so blue that I had to run pc so I could see in the tank. I am getting a whiter MH this time around and I am hoping they balance eachother out.. One white in the middle two blues on the ends...

Hey Connie,
Where did you pick up your MH's? That is exactly what I'm looking for my new canopy as well.

Just noticed, you're running 3 250s on a 48" tank. I was going to use 3-250s for my 72" in tank....am I using too little light? It had 3 glass tops, so I thought I'd put 1 light per section.

I think the two I had over my 120 were most likely fine. The arcos are going like crazy. Everyting is real healthy. I am mostly getting it because, " you can never have to much light " and I really need to tone down the blue..I will be using my PC for my sea horse tank ( need it to get the plants to grow ) Come on over & take a look at mine if you like. I get all my lighting from Darin @ Captivereefs.com. He has amazing customer service you will not be disappointed.. I am getting the pendant, ballast, & bulb for 300.00 thats shipping on a 2 day delivery as well....

improdagal... check out the westvalley reef tour for good pics of her tank... Plus plan to remove the glass tops from your tank... that will help ALOT.
What are you doing with your "old" lights?

|
I will just give my warning that your system will flood, bulbs will burn out, and things will take continuous maintenance... get over it.

Either Trading them with the VHO's on my FW tank or just getting rid of them. All depends on how I do it.
