I am looking at buying an ro unit and was just wondering what you guys think would be the best for the money? Is it worth looking into used or just buying a new one?

The only thing that "wears out" are the filters (6-12 months - $15) and membrane (2-5 years - $35) so a used RO unit is the best buy for the money. Used units can be found for $50-$75. Also needed is a TDS tester so you'll know when the membrane needs replacement. Some units come with an inline TDS meter. Personally I prefer the portable handheld tester.

The most common size these days seems to be the 75 gpd(gals per day) unit, but who uses that much water in a day? It produces water 3x faster so that's the advantage because the price of a 24 gpd unit is essentially the same.

An RO unit with the DI section that many people buy is not worth the money and is really quite unnecessary because it makes no appreciable difference to the water purity.
