This has been fun.  No, I'm not possessed. I have always tried to educate hobbyists that skimming does things to a tank, both beneficial and non-beneficial. I have never told anyone not to use a skimmer, just that skimming is unnecessary. In this specific case I'm not certain it will help much, except that it may help remove some of the medications used on this crushed coral LS I got from someone. Ever since I got this sand the coral and algae hardly grow and coral are often shrunken. My hope is that some of the medication is bonding with organic molecules that AC has been unsuccessful in removing. Already I have used up 4 pads of special Poly Filter and plan to use more.
