Topic: Water in Utah - Which RO/DI? Posted: May 21 2011 at 11:31am |
I'm sure it varies city to city, but in general, how is the water in the Salt Lake City area? Hard? Sediment-y? What TDS do you all get out of the tap?
We're buying a new RO/DI on the transistion to Utah, so we just wanted to make sure we bought something appropriate. I know some areas run two sediment chambers or whatever.

Water around Hill is pretty good - you won't need to use a dual sediment system unless you get a place that has it's own well.

My TDS here in Murray reads about 220 tds. I use a Maxcap RODI from Spectrum and love it. 0 TDS

Sweeeet. Water here in Ohio is disgusting. I think we average about 400 out of the tap (ewww!) and I could only get down to 12 TDS b/c the DI membrane didn't seat properly in mine. So, I had to change filters quite a bit. Hopefully we won't have that issue anymore. :-)

The water is so clean here that some of us just use tap water and most hobbyists use RO alone, no DI. Because we value algae growth in our systems, most tap water impurities are eaten up and the rest pose no hazard.
