Has anyone ever been successful at getting GSP to colonize the back wall of a tank?

just place the GSP on close to the back glass and the GSP will do the rest of the work.

Super Glue holds it in place and nature does the rest. Several small pieces will grow much faster than one large piece. A couple small pieces of GSP were done that way on the center back glass in this tank.

Yes, or splash water on them every 15 minutes or so as you transport the tank to it's new home.
You could also remove the sand and set the tank on it's side so that a small layer of water sloshes around over them.
They can survive out of water without the splashing if the tank is refilled within 30-90 minutes. This pic was taken at Waikiki Beach. See the green algae on the rocks. No, wait. Wait a minute, that's not algae, it's...  ...it's Green Star Polyps.  Hey look! They are all over every rock in this area. It's absolutely awesome!

I like gsp also but it can get out of control and take over then it looks like crap

Hay what's the trick to getting them to grow faster? I got a small frag of them and have had them in my tank for a couple of month and no new growth. What do I need to do to get them to start spreading?

If your not getting growth from GSP, then you probably have a problem in the tank... either chemistry,flow,oxygen something

Well my tank is doing really well and the GSP are healthy as ever. What is the growth rate of GSP? Because the frag I have looks really healthy but haven't seen any new growth.

It can grow 1/4" - 1/2" in a month.

If they aren't growing I would take it as a sign of good tank health. A "dirty" tank with nitrates/phosphates will cause your GSP to flourish....let them grow slow, it will keep a balanced look to your tank.....feed your fish more, skip out on water changes, and don't skim much and you'll see them take off in growth....

bur01014 is correct maybe your on the other side of the spectrum and have too "clean of a tank"... i know my gsp stopped growing as well when i upgraded my lights (which i found as a blessing)
