I throw mine in the washing machine on cold with no soap. Let it dry out and its good as new. Haven't tried peroxide.

I do mine in washing machine too.. but on hot with just a splash of bleach... allowing to fully dry after. I usually have plenty of time for drying as I only run socks when I'm getting lots of turbidity (floaters in the water). usually this is every couple weeks for only about 2 days max, so I only run socks about 10% of the time.

Bleach does not cause a problem because not much is needed, the rinse cycle washes it away and the rest evaporates.

If you are really worried about bleach get some type of de-chlorinator.

I always wash my filter socks with bleach only. When my inlaws lived with us while their house was being built, my mother in law thought she would do me a favor and get them really clean for me. The night before the reef tour I changed socks and OMG. That was about 4 yrs ago.

Bleach only, NO SOAP.
In that link he shows us the procedure and the value of H2O2 over NaClO. The simple truth is, both chemicals oxidize organic matter and after a good rinse and dry, neither one leaves enough residue to be a problem, but, I believe that one of them is cheaper.
Any cheap bleach is fine, but as in many things in this hobby, more is not better but is actually worse. It takes very little bleach to do the job. The worry about releasing other chemicals into the tank is just that. Worry.
