While doing my critter watch tonight under my moonlights with my loop, I found some white dots with little tenticles stuck all over the glass in pairs of 2-3. After some research I found a picture and found they may be hydroid jellyfish.

Can anyone confirm? Also I have found mix info about them, some say they are pests and to try to get rid of them and some say they will go away on there own. Are they pests, and what should I do?

Here is a pic from another post on as close to what they look like, some of the little tenticles look like they wave around with the water flow:

On a cool note-- I think I caught a baby cerith snail on my glass. It is tiny, but with a loop I can see what looks like the long pointy shell with it moving across the glass

Thanks,
Rob

I think they are hydroids. I have them in my nano and find them to be
benign, except they eat the baby brine shrimp I feed to my dwarfs! And,
then they explode in population. I would think if you are not feeding them
excessivel (like I do!), they will be nutrient controlled. I have had good
luck with peppermint shrimps eating them.

Aren't little spy glasses cool? Check out your sand bed!

I had these on my glass as well about a month ago.  For some reason I do not find them anymore.  Instead I have what appear to be tiny shells that are a little bigger than the Hydroids were.  The have little feathery fingers.  They grow all over the rocks and glass.  Haven't done any research on them, so I don't know what kind of impact they have to the system.  They don't seem to have any, except for filtering the water.

Thanks, for the info. Sounds like nothing for me to worry about... It was just strange that I noticed them for the first time last night. I notice things normally pretty quick..

If you get so many you can't see through the glass it's time to get a sixline wrasse.  That's highly unlikely though.

Great Idea... I could say there is enough that is covering the glass so I can get a six line wrasse But I will be patient and wait until my tank is ready to handle a six line wrasse... However when do you know the tank is ready. I realize the tank should be established for a few months before getting one, but when can you tell your tank is at that point that it can?

I have them on my tank too... didn't look till I saw this thread... Kind of
neat. I have a mandarin, he must not touch them, My Sixline died in the
tank transfer

I don't plan to add one till it's my last fish. My previous one was kind of a
bully to new tank mates.
