Interesting pic. Ermm
The Hermit was already dead. You can tell by the color and the fuzzy growth covering it.
The tank looks pretty clean. No detritus in or on the sand, LR so white, etc.
I suspect the Hermit might have died of starvation.

I still have your tank and free Nemo. Please come get them before I have to give them to someone else before we leave.

Speaking of invertebrates dying of starvation, since I recently changed my sump to an RDP refugium, all of the excess algae that was all over my rocks and sand has dissappeared and I have at least 100 snails due to arrive any day. Is there something I should do to keep them alive and cleaning?

there is always someone looking for snails.  If you don't have enough for them to eat post them here for what you paid and I'm sure someone will pick them up.
