Hey,

My question is this; If you have a 150 watts of PC, is that The Same as 150 Watt metal hallide.  Or is the Par different between the two?  Your help, would be appriciated.
Here is what a customer said while on hold Oh my gosh! Did you open the door? I told you not to open the door. Dre is in here completely naked and he's got freak'n Macaroni and Cheese in his hands.

It's not the same, the penetration of the MH far exceed's that of the PC's so the PAR at depth would be the main difference.

Is there any study referenced for this?  I'd like to see the numbers.

It would be useful in the hobby to select your lighting by your needs and what works for you.  Assuming PC is inferior, it may be sufficient for a given desired stock list and would therefore keep someone from hemoragging out the wallet for MH buying the fixture and then subsequent power bills.

150 watts of PC is very different than 150 watts of MH and 150 watts of LED is different. Wattage is very over used in the hobby. PAR and PUR are the best way to measure lighting. The best overall lighting is T5, IMO. Less power usage and the same PAR as most MH. You also have a very large selection of bulbs to fine tune the color you want. Why do you think so many MH users run T5 to supplement? It is beacuse rarely do you get the color you want with just straight MH.

Thanks for all the advice.
