I have once again lost one green bubble tip anemone and can't find him anywhere in my tank.  I'm sure he has crawled into a crack in the rocks.  Last time I had to dismantle half the rock in the tank to find him.  My questions are:  Will it re appear when it gets hungry or needs light?  Is there anything I can do to keep it from moving around?  Am I going to have to tear my rocks apart again to find it?  If I don't do I need to worry?

If it is alive then it will reappear. I don't think there is much you can do to keep it from moving. It might be happy for a while but as corals grow and the flow changes the anemone will once again move to a more desirable location.

I currently have 4 Condylactis and 2 Long Tentacled Anenomes...

Oddly enough, the Condys - which are supposed to be the "wanderers" -have pretty much stayed put after the first day or 2 in the tank; on the other hand the #*&%!!! LTAs can't make up their minds where they want to be... and they seem to prefer areas with less light and flow than the Condys...

Which I think is rather odd, and also makes me nervous after one of the LTAs had a "near death experience" with a Hydor koralia pump...detaching itself and floating around the tank currents...

luckily the LTA 'escaped' with nothing more than a few tentacle ends chopped off courtesy of the Koralia Ouch

I am pretty sure he is still alive, it has only been a day since he decided to move.  I have three other anemones that stay put and this one I thought had found his place and was there for a week or so since his last move.  I guess if he does not show up in a day or two I may have to move some rocks and try to find him.  I guess I should get used to it just as I was getting things how I wanted.  Maybe I can fix the rock so there are less places for him to hide.

I wouldn't try to find it - what good does that do?  If it is alive, it will come out when it wants to.  If you tear your tank apart looking for it, you will just disturb everything else.  There's a reason it's hiding.  The only place I would look for it would be in your powerheads.  Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it.

How long have you had it?  Maybe there are chemicals in the tank that it doesn't like.

Larry, you may want to go on a live rock search. Try to find a piece of rock with a crevice on only the side and top. I found a piece like that a long time ago and have been able to keep the anemone there no matter where I place the rock (although, if the anemone doesn't extend after a few days I start looking for a new spot) It has liked the rock and remained there for almost 3 years (except for the raccoon incident)

I would not tear the tank up looking for it. I keep seeing the wandering RBTA that I want to remove every 3-4 days. When ever I see it I make sure to give it some food (Adam's homemade recipe) and it disappears again.

I have had it about two weeks and it looked healthy and I think it just wanted to move.  I feed them well.  When I first got it, it attached itself to my largest anemone,  I got them separated, then it crawled in a crack and I found it attached to the bottom of a rock about mid level in my tank after being gone a day.  Everything else seems happy and healthy.  I do need to do a water change, maybe I'll do that tomorrow.  I'll check all my water parameters tomorrow as well.  He isn't in the powerheads, that was the first place I looked.

I could not stand it any longer, I had to move a few pieces of rock.  Only the ones that did not mess things up too much.  It's still missing.  On a good note though, my black and white clowns decided they like my rose bubble tip and are trying to keep everything else away.  I did not know how much fun it is to watch them host an anemone.  Maybe the other two will get the idea and find the one that is lost.  My son says I should name the lost anemone "Nemo", and try to find him.  I will wait.  I am going to have to move that rock and my corals when I get the bigger tank going in a few months anyway.  If he does not show up by then , let's hope it is still alive and healthy.

I found him today, way in the back of one of the many places it could hide.  It looks good and is hiding in back of my pink sinularia.  Now I won't worry so much.  Well at least not for a couple of weeks and until he decides to take off again.  The rose anemone moved behind my silver tip xenia.  Both xenia and sinularia are doing okay for now.

Cool, I glad you found it.  Isn't it weird how things disappear for days or even weeks and then show back up?
Yes Mikey...I still have fins!!!
