I ran into a real good price on a marine betta today and was really tempted to bring one home.  I was in the middle of doing some cleaning and a water change so I didn't.  Now after some research it seems to me that this fish is best left at the store rather than in my tank.  What  I read said that they eat other small fish.  The smallest I have is a firefish.  Has anyone had any experience with the betta?  It was real nice and seemed very healthy but the people didn't know much about him.  I also saw a very pretty Sunshine chromis large enough to survive in my tank and a Lamark Angel.  Anyone kept either of these fish.  Info please.

Is it the one @ petco off of redwood?  It has lived there forever, like a year or so.  what did they drop the price to? last i checked it was $80 or so.

I've seen that beta & they have had him for at least 6 months if not longer (since he has been around for so long you know he is healthy).  He is to small to eat your fire fish.  The one I have is great, the only thing is he will hide & is secretitive.  He will be seen more if you have small cave or overhang.  The are very passive.  If I didn't already have one I would have taken him last weekend.

Well, I finally bought the Betta.  No it wasn't from Petco I bought it from the new owners of Marine World and Pets in West Jordan.  I also got a beautiful large rock of orange zoos.  I hope the fish does well.  They have had him for several weeks and said he eats well (frozen brine shrimp).  He is hiding in the caves right now but I hope he will adjust and come out sometimes.  He seens to be able to hold his own with my Tangs.  Everyone in the tank seems to be courious but they aren't really bothering him.

Day three with the betta.  I don't see him eat and am offering a variety of things.  He stays in the back and corner of my tank but does move into view now and then.  I can usually see him because the side of my tank is open for viewing too.  He took a few hits to the tail from my tangs but seems to be recovering.  I just hope that he finds something to his liking for food soon.  Just bevcause I don't see him eat doesn't mean he doesn't eat.

marine bettas are shy, especialy at first, but one good thing is that they are very disease resistant (they have been called "bulletproof")
People think I'm psychotic when I get excited about invertebrate encrusted live rock!
