I've got alot of baby hermit crabs in my tank, they're extremely tiny and currently are using shells from my sand to get a perspective, my question is if anyone knows where I can get various sizes of shells starting from that tiny and up a ways to give them something to move into when they outgrown these little shells, if anyone can help me or point me to where I can find some tiny shells i'd greatly appreciate it. Also I will be at the meeting this thursday if anyone has some tiny shells they want to sell or donate to my baby hermit cause that would be wonderful.

Well I always have luck asking my LFS if I can have some of their empty shells that they have in there tank, I usually get them for free. Also I imagine there are quite a few members with older tanks that have tons of shells just sitting around on their substrates.

I might be able to find a few....If we don't, these guys will try to steal the
shells from your snails!

I moved a few of them out of my main tank as I noticed them to my seahorse tank so I can watch them more closely, the other night I pulled about 20 or so out when I noticed them walking around on a rock, perfect super tiny little baby hermits hobbling around my tanks, theres alot of them! they look to me like blue legs. Any shells I can for these little guys would be wonderful as I'd love to raise them to adults.

That's cool but I have no idea where you could get miniature shell except from someone who has had snails breed in thier tank maybe?

Now I know nothing of disease transmission and the like but people with freshwater planted tanks tend to have problems with snail explosions.  They are quite small and wouldn't survive the salt water and thus leave you a shell.

That said, even though I have a planted thank, I don't have snails anymore as I have gotten a couple of snail eatin loaches to take care of what was an overpopulation problem.  HTH

I never seen baby hermits in my tank. They should be very cool. Congratulation! Did you get enough shells for them?
