I have recently set up a tank in my office again and have been loving have it around.

I started with a 10 gallon reef, with a 96 quad on top of it.  After about 6 months I came across an interestingly sized 30ish gallon tank that I moved everything in to.

The tank itself is doing great the corals are growing, and fish were getting fat.

I had a black and white perc (Great Barrier Reef variety) in it.  I had owned him for a bit a year.  He was the only fish in the tank.

I came in to work a few weeks ago and to my astonishment he was gone.

I quickly searched the area around my tank to see if he had jumped.  No signs of him any where on the floor.  I then moved stuff around in the tank looking for his body, or bones or anything that would identify him.  I didn't find anything.  Chucky(the fish) had vanished.

Distraught I waited a few days and went and got a new fish, I bought a potters angel fish.  Named him Harry and put him in the tank.  Four days later he vanishes much the same way as Chucky had.

I added one more fish and he too vanished.  But this time I had an idea of what was going on.  I had the security staff pull the camera footage of thee office and say what appears to be someone leaving the building with a bag full of water.  Not conclusive enough to make charges against, but good enough for me.

If I am right the cleaning staff has been stealing my fish.

I have only ever had one fish in the tank at time, and the fish has always vanished the night that the cleaners are in the office. My office is locked when I am not in it, and the only people that have keys outside of the management team are the cleaners.

I have added a couple of more fish and set up a spy cam.  I hope to actually catch the thiefs dipping there muddy paws in to my tank.

We shall see.

If you actually video taped someone stealing fish that would be awesome.  I'd put a nice Koran angel or something like that in there.  Something real tempting.

This is real bizzare! What some low-lifes! I hope you are able to get the evidence you need to nab these people. I am always amazed at some of the stupid things people do that will put their jobs in jepardy not to mention the possibility of any legal action. Let us know what happens!

That is sweet. You definately have to post the footage if/when you catch them.

So, if the person wants the fish they likely have a salt water tank. If so they may visit this board. Thus, you may have already set yourself up for failure by making this post because you may have warned your theif of what your doing.

Good luck none the less.

I too would like to see that on video. I don't know anybody that is that good at catching fish in an established tank. LOL

Sorry for the loss. I hope you catch them red-handed. . . maybe a lionfish could help. Big%20smile
