I am a little concerned as one of my Condy Anenomes decided to "relocate" it's big jellied butt right onto a nice flat piece of LR that I was reserving for my growing frag collection and my baby clams.
Anyway, the big goon was waving it's tentacles all around in the current and I noticed that it was occasionally contacting both of my baby Deresa clams and my 2-head Candycane frag... the clams reacted by not opening fully - I figured the anenome is probably annoying them and maybe its tentacles were irritating the mantle (somewhat).
 My Candycane showed no effects yesterday - but today it looks somewhat "shriveled" (for lack of a better expression) and had no polyp extension. I relocated the frag away from the anenome but my concern is that maybe the anenomes "sting" is powerful enough to do real damage on a coral that small...
Anyone have an opinion?
P.S. - I am in the process of fabricating an anenome "collar" to keep Mr. Condy from extending said tentacles towards the clams (which I can't really move) until Mr. Condy gets the hint that he needs to move his butt to a less crowded locale  ------------- - My Current Tank: 65g Starfire (sitting empty for 2+ years) - * Marine & Reef tanks since 1977 * |

As long as there is flesh on the candy canes they will come back. I have had mine recede all the way into their skeleton and they have made a full recovery. |

Ah yes, the joys of housing an anemone. I agree with Gahlen and yes it does have a powerfull enough sting to do real damage over time. It is a good thing you moved the Candycane.

24 hours since I moved it and 1 head looks back to normal, the other still a bit "shriveled" but I think it will be OK, too 
I took an old tupperware square 'bowl' and fabricated kind of a divider so the anemone tentacles can't sway over to where the baby clams are -
and they have started to open back up fully, too
Once the anemone relocates I'll just remove the tupperware thingy... ------------- - My Current Tank: 65g Starfire (sitting empty for 2+ years) - * Marine & Reef tanks since 1977 * |
