CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who participated in "Adam's Nano Challenge"
http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=22988 - http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=22988
The Aquatic & Terrestrial Research Team is thankful for all the entries you submitted.  Unfortunately we won't be able to give each of you a brand new nano aquarium... but for some of you we certainly can!!!!
Over the next few weeks we will be giving out thousands of dollars in tank setups and equipment including: Oceanic Biocubs, Red Sea Max Nanos, Current-USA Aquapods, PFO Solaris Lights, ARAD High Output LED Systems, Ecosystem Substrate, Instant Ocean Salt, Aquatic Ecosystems Aquariums, Ice Probe Chillers, Walt Smith Live Rock, Hydor Koralia Pumps, TOM Aquariums, Hi-Q Aquariums, and a whole lot more.

For some of the "winners" you will be receiving a nano aquarium.  Hopefully we can help with the rest of the needed items to make your dreams a reality.  But for some of the other winners, you will be receiving a tank, lights, sand, salt, rock, and even the livestock!!!!

This list will grow over the next few weeks as we select more winners.  For now, here you go.....

Current Winners: (partial awards)
Mike Savage- "You Light Up My Life"
Mike will receive a brand new Solaris lighting system, to go on his brand new Fluorescent Filtered Nano tank, and will also receive substrate for that tank.
Jon Finch- "Spontaneous Generation"
Jon will receive an all inclusive nano aquarium.  Jon may also receive the uncured live rock (it is doubtful now, sorry Jon).
Jamison Hensley- "Aussies Rule!"
Jamison will be receiving a small aquarium which includes Steve Irwin and Russel Crowe action figures.
Shawn Winterbottom- "Maid to Dust"
Shawn's unique idea of a tank dominated by Featherdusters has earned him a small nano aquarium, with substrate and salt.
Susan Matney- "Hawaiian Punch"
Susan's idea of a Punch Fountain aquarium has won her a punch fountain, substrate, mangroves, and everything to make an indoor saltwater house plant "aquarium."
Camille Grimshaw- "Jailhouse Rock"
Camille will receive an aquarium which has been decorated to look like a jailhouse, to hold her Black & White striped damsels.
Multiple Entries-
Several people pitched the idea of a "Camoflauge Aquarium" with frogfish, anglers, colored substrate.  We are still deciding how to handle this entry.
Multiple Entries-
Several people mentioned Urchins, Seastars, and some sort of tide pool system.  We are still deciding how to handle these entries.

Runner Up
Livestock: Shane Silcox- "School is Cool"
Shane will receive a free 16 gallon bowfront aquarium, with lights, sand, rock.  Hopefully everything he will need to set up his schooling community aquarium.

Display: Shane Heil- "Can You Sea Me Now"
Shane will receive a custom made glass aquarium with a top view angled panel.  Shane will also receive lighting, enriched substrate, and this WILL include the seagrasses needed to make his biotope.

Grand Prize Winners:
Livestock: Dave Tea- "Shiver Me Timbers"
Dave will receive everything he needs to make his coldwater temperate aquarium.  Dave will receive an insultated aquarium, micro chiller, low energy LED light system, and Dave will have his livestock personally collected and shipped to him straight from the diver upon Dave's call.

Display: Camille Grimshaw- "Mer Made With Love"
Camille's tank design of a Mermaid set up that is Made With Love will be a challenging project for the next few months.  This tank design will require Camille to make a Mermaid sculpture to hold the aquarium.  IN ADDITION to this aquarium, Camille will also be receiving a free All-Inclusive nano aquarium.

Again, thank you to everyone who participated.  If you do not receive a prize from this... well I guess you should have played harder and submitted more entries.

-----------
Thanks!!!
Adam

Well, this makes me wish I would have at least tried.
I know it's too late but this is what I was thinking.
Reverse of what most people think a setup should be, I would do a bigger fuge then display. Say a 29/20 gallon fuge right behind a 20/10 gallon display. Put the same size of light on both fuge and display but run them RDP. Make this the only filter and see how little you can feed it while still having a happy well fed mini reef with a fish or two. Kind of an experiment.

edit-
Congrats to those that won. I look forward to pictures.

Let me guess I won too, but you guys are just trying to figure out how to pressurize a Nano, and setup the plumbing for the mini thermal vents?

Soundsurfer- I'm sure that if the thermal vents looked possible you would have had a grand prize.

That's awesome, Adam! And to think I was only hoping for a pat on the back. These should make some very cool aquariums. Anyone have a Blue Ring Octo for sale?

Dave Tea beat you to the idea by several days.  In fact I had ordered his tank probably before you even posted Embarrassed.
Oh, and he went Northern Atlantic... not Northern Pacific.

Sorry, can't think of a disclaimer yet.  If you really want I'll come up with one.

Potential Winner-
So EagleEye5 (Jerry) suggested a Giant Pacific Octo in a 6 gal tank.  Well that idea didn't win but we've spoken with Jerry and helped him modify his entry.  It looks like Jerry will be setting up a 40 gal tank to house his new tank raised Cuttlefish!  When it all works out I'll update this thread.

Well, I'm excited about seeing the "Hawaiian Punch" nano.  Who'd a thought that Adam would really try it.  I shouldn't be surprised though.  I remember when he made a really cool jellyfish tank.

for Shane's cool seagrass tank...

http://seanursery.com/water/106

If you have any questions about seagrass, Sarah is the person to contact. She used to have info on her own seagrass tank. I'm sure it's still on her site, you just need to dig it up. BTW, she would be an excellent guest speaker. She is like the female Adam B.

I seriously doubt we'll have Sarah out here.... I'm willing to give her a chance but I think most clubs have written her off after last year's fiasco.  Suzy was pushing for her for a while but I haven't heard much of Sarah in months.
But I agree she is super duper smart.  Especially with seagrasses.

Adam
ps- yesterday the presidency agreed to bring in a seagrass expert for a club meeting... I sent the invitation today but don't tell anyone, it is a secret

UPDATE-
To be fair to Sarah, I called the macna 07 boys and got the update and asked for any info that may have come about recently.  I just got off the phone, and I think our club is well informed and up to date.

I'm used to contests that have the disclaimer "Many will enter, few will win!  Actual odds of winning, 100000000 to 1.  Send SASE to Losers Contest, PO Box 666, Loserville, LA 73441"

I'm going to try this next one.
