I have had one in my tank before and didn't have an issue but I am just double checking.  I have read that they are reef safe, but I have also read some stuff mentioning that they eat fish?  Anyone have any experience with this?  I am planning to add 3 to my 150.

I have always had at least one in my tank with no problems.  I have heard they may eat corals and fish if they do not have enough food but never have had it happen to me.

I have one in my 75 gal.  It hasn't bothered any of my fish.  I have a clown goby that sits right next to it and it doesn't bother it at all.  Everything I have read on them says they get along with other tank inhabitants.  They are actually a good addition to your clean up crew.

I love emerald crabs, they are a fun crab to have in your tank.  I did notice them picking at everything and that my pod, hermit crab and snail populations went down while having them in my tanks.  Never lost a fish.  I think they may be prone to starving to death however if they don't have enough to eat.  They seem to move slower than most things and love to stay hidden.  When I put two in the same tank they did not seem to get along.

I had a couple and they did great but they did eventually starve.  I've read that you can feed them by rubber banding a piece of seaweed to a rock at night when all the fish are asleep.  I tried it when I thought mine was starving but it was too late.

Eventually I'll get a couple more but this time I will attempt to feed it regularly.  Starving might not be a problem if you have a good supply of greens in your tank but I have Rabbitfish & tangs that demolish any macro algae in my display.

Thanks for the input.  I have plenty of greens right now so I think I will go ahead with the order.

I've had good luck with them too. I have more Emerald crabs than I have fish.

They only eat fish if the fish was dead or dieing. They can't catch fish otherwise. I have 2 in my 75.
