I just purchased a used RO/DI unit from someone and was wondering how to tell if the DI resin is needing changed? Its a Kent Marine Maxxima unit. I have new membranes for the first and second canisters, just wonder about the resin. Anyone know anything about this unit??

If it has the color changing resin then it turns from blue to brown when it is nearly used up. It may still be good however and the only way to tell if it is totally exhausted is with a TDS Meter. The TDS should read 0. If it begins to show higher readings then it is time to change the media. BRS has a good video on the subject.

Thanks Burt! I think i need to get a TDS meter. My resin is mostly brown, but still a bit of blue in it.

You're probably still ok for a while then. I don't think it is completely exhausted even after it all turns brown.
