You know those loopy strings of Cerith Snail eggs that appear on the glass and rocks from time to time?

I had a friend over the other evening and looking through the jewelers loop, we did a rough approximation. A six inch string had about 75 loops with about 1000 eggs in each loop.

Adam Blundell does the math better than me but I think that's like 75,000 eggs! Wow!

Does anyone have a pic of a Cerith Snail egg string?

I can grab one next time they lay eggs, I have to ketch them right after though as the tang really likes cerith snail eggs.

Mine are always laying eggs too. I'll see if I can snap a decent pic.

My snails layed eggs yesterday and were promptly eaten.  I did grab this pic before the tang got to them.

Cool, Thanks, Jared.
From that pic, it appears that the snail cleared the area immediately around the egg string!

That's what I was just thinking, too.  Looks like the snail cleaned the area first.  Very cool picture!!  Thanks!

The snail actually cleaned the glass as it layed the eggs, it's very interesting to watch.  Fell free to use it Adam. Here are the rest of the pictures I took if any of these work better:
