I have heard some good things about chemipure elite and Purigen.  I have a 24 gal nano and was thinking of putting this stuff in the first chamber underneath some filter floss. I don't know much about it and was wondering if anyone has some info on it and how it works.

I use it in my nano, its mostly just carbon, but it pollishes the water nice, water looked noticeably clearer after adding it.

I run carbon in my tank now but was thinking of adding this stuff.  Is it worth it?

Do you have any problems with the tank?

It appears to be simply Activated Carbon(AC) and Activated Alumina(AAl).
All tanks should use AC about 2 weeks/month, but AAl is for removing phospate(PO4) which is not that big of a problem, especially if there is some algae in the system that is being harvested by the hobbyist or eaten by the fish.
You could probably save money by buying these products separately.Smile Rockstarfish bought a large quantity of good AC and offers it to us at a good price right here on this MB. I might use a little AAl once a year, if that.

I have used Purigen for about 4 or 5 years.  I like that I am able to easily regenerate it.   Purigen is not AC or Alumina.

I agree with Mark that every tank should run AC at least every once in a while.  Although I have seen a lot of fish tanks with phosphate problems even if they are growing algae.  Especially in nano tank, heavily feed tanks, and tanks that don't get regular water changes.

I missed that you asked about two products. I was only commenting on the chemipure elite. Oh, and I agree with Jake.
