Is it normal for sea cukes to ever split in half?

I had one large (10"+) Tiger tail cucumber in my 225 and now I see 2 (5") cucumbers...
 
At first I thought maybe I accidently chopped it in half while I was reaquascaping the tank last weekend, but both "pieces" appear to be alive and thriving...
