I have finally Decided to move up from my tiny 14 gallon Biocube and I need a little help. I want to get a bigger tank because my 14 gallon is very restricting when it comes to the types of corals and fish I can have. I am leaning towards a 55-90 gallon tank because they are not too big but not too small (If anyone is looking into selling one than PM me) I have a lot of questions about lighting, filters, pumps, and so on. One of the nice things about a Biocube is that the tank comes pre-installed with all that good stuff where a larger tank does not. My first question is what size should I get? I would like a tank that could at least hold a few fish, multiple corals, and other things like an anemone and larger fish. I thought I would first figure out what size of tank I would get before I ask questions about what lighting, heater, pump, and filter/sump to get? I would mostly like to buy used because that is what I hear is the way to go. Any h elp is greatly appreciated.This site is the best when it comes to these kind of things!!!!! Thanks!!!

Are you mostly doing this for the fish, or the real estate for corals? Starting this weekend, i'll have pretty much 0 restriction for the corals i can keep in my biocube 14, not to mention an anemone. All it took were a few minor tweaks and a lighting upgrade. Though, if you are looking for a larger tank, go as big as you can afford, if you are on a strict budget, a 75g or a 90g are pretty good tank sizes to go for. If you are wanting fish like small tangs.etc If you are just looking for more room for corals, 40g Breeders are my favorite

Both I would say. Im leaning more towards the coral though because they add so much color. Al for the biocube restrictions, alot of people have said an anemone would not do well in such a small tank. Thanks for the help!!

Most nem's get at least 8" across, if not larger. That is the only reason I can think of not to try one in a small tank. I would say get the 90 gal, bigger is definitely better for keeping a little piece of the reef. ------------- Some day, when I grow up,... |

I'm just learning still but from all the research I've done it seems 90-120 is the sweet spot in cost vs size. I could be wrong though. I am a total noob.

 I have a ton of flow (around 650gph) good lighting and enough room for growth, so we will see in the next couple weeks. |

I just picked mine up from The Aquarium for ~$200. I called around and it seems most of the LFS are having the same deal. There are some good deals in the Buy-Sell-Trade forum (which I passed up since I'm a nit-picky idiot) that you could look at.
