I just gotta say it. I know everyone here loves ricordia, but I just don't see it. Everytime i look of them, I picture some exotic desease giving you a rash that you really wouldn't want to find anywhere on your body.

I think your ricordea needs to be thinned out!  It's in danger of becoming seriously overcrowded, right everyone?!?

Patrick, I feel the same about some other kinds of corals.  There's a certain one - can't think of the name, but it's orange and blimpey lookin'.   It reminds me of the Bog of Eternal Stench on an old movie called Labyrinth.

Ok... here's a couple of mine.

Since everyone's talking shrooms, here's a couple I just got:

And here's the right side of my tank (only two of those acros are store bought colonies!)

Your tank looks Great Jon, just dont put those new shrooms near any of your acros, they spread fast and sting the acros bad, but I those shrooms are one of my favorites.  Is that frogspawn close to your acros, or is it just the picture?

Thanks Brad.  The frogspawn is right in the middle of the acros and it's usually larger then pictured.  I came home from work tonight and found the stupid thing face down in the sand (I had put it back just before taking the picture).  It stings a bit, but the acros have room to grow in the other direction .  I kind of have a laissez faire attitude when it comes to my corals.

.....yeah right!  Except for that chemical part!   I'm pretty sure that wouldn't qualify as "laissez faire,"  mon ami!

You're right renee.  When it comes to water chemistry I'm a little FDRish, but when it comes to coral placement and "touching" issues I'm much more Jeffersonian.

Yup that's probably the most correct name for it.  Branching Montipora.  I've also heard it described as orange Montipora digitata (but I don't know if it's actually digitata or not).  There's also an encrusting orange montipora (or maybe porites?) behind the branching.

Renee, you may be right, my mushrooms want to take all of the space.

I just may have to do some thinning soon.

Jason, Do you have any problems with corals stinging each other?

Yep, usually when some polyps become rogue, acro touches monti, but mostly when the shrooms are sprawling out and touching some of the sps in general. The aggression is pretty much taken care of when I do some cuttings and fragging. I don't mind the upkeep, though. Brad, btw, your tank looks awesome(Jon, your's too.)!!!

Brad, I was just being greedy.  They're very nice ricordea!  I have one ricordea in my tank that is about 6 inches across the middle.  It's very glowy green.  I wish it would split.  Do you feed your 'shrooms?

Also, if you felt like it... you could hit Return (Enter) after your picture, and then it would drop underneath the picture before it.  Would make it easier to see.  But no big deal - I've just seen Mark P. post that before.

I keep trying to do that Renee, but somehow I keep screwing it up, heck it took me almost 8 months to figure out how to resize my pictures , Now I just have to figure out how to show them right.  WHERE DO YOU HIT RETURN, I have been hitting enter but not return?
