So i have been watching some pretty awesome behavior from my little Blue Damsel, he goes into the spot he rests for the night and grabs a piece of coral substrate and places it into a pile he has been doing this for several days and actually has a pile building up. It really is the coolest thing, he will do it for hours! Just wondering if anyone else sees this happen much? Mike

Well I know in the wild that damsels will cultivate little gardens of algae to eat.... maybe he's attempting that behavior.

Very common. That's part of what makes them so cool. If only they weren't so pugnacious and even aggressive later on in life.
We had 3 large blue damsels in a 75. They each had their home. My wife loved to show visitors the antics of the one that made it's home under a pile of rocks. She would push the sand into it's hole and we would watch as it cleaned it's house spraying sand out the front door.  Here are two of the three:
