 finally got one last night got it in the tank he was doin real good found himself a place under a rock and all. Then this morning seen him just staring at me then just a bit ago tried finding him and couldnt see him anywere then moved a rock and he was under another rock looked kinda white and color was off. so got grabbers and touched him and nothing. after gettin him pulled out he was dead and been eating up a lil bit.Dont know what happened all perameters in tank are good other fish doin good and corals also. I love the look of them fish and now I dont have one.

K when i got my snowflake eel a few people said they are ok to have and they are partial blind. So I am now wondering if mine was the killer in my tank? the jawfish was in the same area he is always hiding out. what do you guys think? the jawfish wasnt real small he was meduim the eel is about 7 inchs or so. not real big.

yea im thinkin it is him more and more. lil fu@#$. cuz i had a pepermint shrimp and a fire fish just diseappear never no sign of them and he prolly ate them. thanx for the sites

| if a fish dies in the first 3 days its usually ethier a sick fish or it wasnt acclimated properly. |

"Reef Safe" is a general term that must be defined. What does the fish prey on? Coral? Fish? Shrimp? I can guarantee that it wasn't the Snowflake that killed the Jawfish. It's mostly the fact that a large percentage of fish die somewhere between the ocean and our tank. This one made it all the way to your tank before it fell over.  The eaten part of the fish is the action of the Hermits, Bristleworms, bugs and bacteria. This is also a relatively new tank. Buying an expensive fish like that is just like throwing money down the drain. My advice is to slow down and let the tank mature. Its not a new tank mark, in a way. I bought a 95 gallon from kody we moved it fast and didnt have to much of a cycle at all. only nitrate was lil high. and I let it sit a week after nitrate went down before putting anything in the tank at all. levels have been very good since, corals and fish doin well. Then after i switched the eel from the 110 to the 95 all sudden it is bermuda triangle for fish. So not 100% sure but last night and this morning he was doin very well eating and dug a burrow for himself. It just seems interesting to me that all of these fish that are dying are from one particular place. To me it says something. Pam |

Brett, please don't take offense, but a moved tank is a lot like a new tank. Just because Nitrates have come down does not mean the tank is stable and can handle anything. There is a lot more still to be learned in this hobby, even by me. My best advice is to slow down and do more learning before taking action. If you had asked about moving the eel over to where you had just added an expensive Bluespot Goby, what do you think we might have said? Though I mentioned above about throwing money down the drain, this recent situation has a lot more to do with responsible reefkeeping.
