I would say it depends on alot of things, how deep is your 35 gallon, I would say 150 should be plenty of light for that size tank, but it also depends on what you are trying to grow? how deep the water is? do you have a good reflector?
Personally I would not place a 6500K bulb over any reef aquarium with out supplemental blue lighting, 6500k generally you will get good growth but colors will not be good in SPS coral. I would get something in the 14k-20k range if the halide is the only light on the reef, or you can get away with 10-12k with blue suplements in my opinion.
Please give more information about your setup and what coral you want to grow/keep and you will get better answers, Flow and keeping your levels up is as important as lighting in a SPS reef in my opinion.

That small of a tank I would go with DIY LED for sure. Use 60 deg optics spaced 2" apart with rows 3" apart and you should be good. 40% cool white, 30% royal blue, 30% true violet or 40% cool white 60% royal blue for a 14k look |

Are you a DIY person, or do you want someone to put it together for you? I get my LED's from http://www.ledgroupbuy.com Edit: look at this thread to see how to make a dimmable driver: http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=47456&KW=led+driver&PN=1 I posted some pictures of mine on the last page. Also note that the original wiring diagram on that thread is wrong. I ran into problems with it, but figured it out after a google search. |

Personally I would do a 2:1 ratio of Royal Blue and Neutral White. But that is just based on the nr community and personal preference |
