Just got a RBTA yesterday and today he is gone? Do they often hide for
long periods of time? should I be worried? Is this normal behavior??? |

Hello everyone,
First of all, they also tend to wander around for a few days before settling. Beyond that, it's not uncommon for anemones to find a spot they like on the back of a rock and disappear.
I wouldn't be concerned yet. Give it a week and it will probably find a spot it likes. If it decides to live somewhere that's out of direct sight, leave it alone. Given time, the anemone will grow and will have to expand to your viewable area. Keep in mind, as it grows it will take up a lot of real estate.

Other thing to check is any powerheads intakes or your overflow and sump (if you have one) Anemones tend to like the water movement associated with powerheads, and they end up getting sucked into the intakes. Depending on how large your rbta was, it could be potentially a fatal situation. Dont mean to be the harbinger of bad news, but it is a possibility. Then again, Pistonfister had a bubble tip take a ride down the overflow into the sump and was just fine. So you never know. |

| My RBTA does a little migratory trip each morning and evening. When the lights come out it moves into view so that it can bask in the brilliance. And when my MH goes out it crawls back behind the rock its on. Actually I dont think its foot moves but it just stretches out or retracts back behind the rocks. If all your water params are good and you have adequate lighting, my bet is that it will come out to seek it. |

I have a beautiful RBTA that has grown so nicely but it has a
terrible habit of becoming all ugly, tiny and green. It
just shrivels up and looks like it is dying. The first time it
happened I thought it was dying, After a few hours it comes
back big, and long and pink again. Does anyone else have this
happen?

GOOD NEWS!!! I found him. He was in my overflow attached to the side?
The weird thing is that my teeth on my overflow are only 1/2" and the RBTA is the size of a small fist? I did'nt realize they could fit through such a small opening?? Thank for all your help! |
