So when i try looking up these stars on youtube, all i can find is videos of people feeding them large peices of meaty foods, and so that made me wonder since i dont know too much about them - do they help clean or benifit your tank in any ways? I have a fish only (no puffers) tank and was wondering that and also i was wondering can they live with any other types of sea stars like the sand sifter star? i tried reasearching them but all that really came up was talking how they are not reef safe and that they are hardy, but Any who any answeres and tips would be great thanks!

Yeah they are good for a FOLR tank. They do need to be fed meaty foods, suchs as kril or squid. They usually wont be able to get to the sand sifting star. But there is a small possibility.

they are carnivours and shouldn't be kept with puffers or triggers i had a friend who had a bad experience with it. the like squid or chopped clam and will eat other starfish

I know, like i said i have a fish only with live rock, (no corals) and no puffers nor triggers. But is their any way they can benifit the tank??

Alright, so i went and picked up a chocolate chip starfish I tried to pick the healthiest best looking one, and i acclimated it for more than an hour, and had my water tested, and everything is good, but hes in my sandbed right now, and he keeps folding the tips of his legs inwards twoard the top center and taking them back out and doing it again.... weird, is this bad??

Nah, dont worry about it it i have seen them fold, lkke that. Being in the sand bed, is normal, they are just searching for more food.... Benifits, uhm no not really...

All right so when i got home tonight i am 99% sure he was dead.he looked all floppy and sunk in. HE hasnt moved since he was here and he has torn rips along the leg that was bent up on the glass:( when i picked him up he didnt move, just sagged. Very sad, but i think it may be because the acclimation. I only did it for about a half an hour.. and i know my fish hasnt and wont touch it.
