My Frogspawn started showing signs of die off. I tested all params and everything was fine. Within 2 days all 10 heads were gone/dead. Now my Wall hammer is doing the same as well as my branching hammer. Anybody have any ideas? I havent changed anything at all. All my other corals..SPS..leathers....zoos.....shrooms etc.. are doing fine. I cant lose all these LPS! AD tested my water for everything on Sat and everything was in line. I am at a loss. HELP!

I know you said you didnt change anything but Im going to ask Have you changed lighting, lighting cycles, flow, additives, salt water used for water changes, have you done any water changes, if so how long was the salt water mixed for before the change, do you notice any brown jelly like substance on the corals? have you added any new livestock? how long have you had the corals that are dying? How long has your tank been set up? what do you use for lighting, filtration,.. Also everyone is going to want to see your parameters and pic of your tank. I'm sorry for you loss ------------- |

| Well come to think of it, I did change bulbs last sunday. (a week ago) Would that create a problem? I have had the tank up for 4 months. I have had those corals pretty much the whole time. I will take a pic and see if I can get it uploaded. I have a red sea max 250. T5 lighting. Havent changed cycles or salt. I get my salt water from AD. No new livestock and no angels or large tangs |

| any large temperature changes ? see what your tank drops to at night, check right before your lights come on. I lost a awesome white and purple elegance coral when my tank dropped to 60 degrees while I was waiting for silicone in my sump to dry . Even after I got the tank back to normal it was too late. Everything else was fine it was my only softy at the time. Might be something to look into . |

the large temp changes could effect it. 7 deg. Is quite a bit. Does it happen every day?
also, are there any other corals upstream from it? Some chem warfare from another coral stressed by a temp change may be the cause. In this case, change your flow and add some carbon.

| no it doesnt happen everyday. It was really weird. I think it was because I had my skimmer turned down quite a bit because it was over flowing and my pump was working too hard so it got hot. IDK |

Brown Jelly Disease just plain stinks 
Sounds to me that the coral may have gotten stressed out from 4 things:
1) Temp rise to 83 degrees is pretty much the maximum acceptable level. Corals can start to bleach, or even die off at 84 degrees.
2) Warmer water also holds less oxygen than cooler water. Combine that temp rise with your turning down the skimmer, and the available oxygen level in the water may have dropped considerably.
3) New light bulbs = change in light intensity and spectrum. Corals can be sensitive to changes in lighting.
4) Possible chemical influences from other corals - especially soft corals.
As far as dealing with the Brown Jelly:
1) If a single head shows up with this disease, remove that head and any nearby heads immediately - even if the nearby heads look OK. Brown Jelly is a highly infectious bacterial disease. Perform an iodine dip on the remaining coral.
2) If more than 1/4 of the total coral is infected, throw the whole thing out.
3) Change your carbon out for fresh carbon, but do not do a water change unless you have some other issue (like high nitrates) that needs attention.
4) Keep a close eye on the rest of your LPS corals to see if the infection has spread.
