My dads freaind gave me this he got from the ocean a bit a ago...Is there a way I can clean it to put in my tank if (it fits.....) If someone wants it, let me know. Does anyone know what kind it is? Looks like a Stylophora. You can soak it in bleach water to kill off anything remaining. I agree with Shane.
Now, there's nothing 'wrong' with putting the coral skeleton in the tank (we used to do that all the time back before we new about 'live rock') - but that pretty white skeleton will get covered in algae and detritus before too long inside the tank... ------------- - My Current Tank: 65g Starfire (sitting empty for 2+ years) - * Marine & Reef tanks since 1977 * |

Reminds me of the Stylophora colonies I'd see while diving in Hawai'i. I saw some colonies larger than the cars we drive off the coast of Kauai, a nice beautiful pink color as well. The damsels sure loved the stuff.
