When I first started reading through this message board someone had posted a design for a glug jug.  Anyone have a picture I could use as reference?  I wanna make one.

That's me. Sorry no pics. It's basically an airtight container with a tube coming out of it that sits in the water. When the water level evaporates to where it's below the end of the tube, air enters, allowing water to escape until the water rises so that no more air can get into the jug and the "glugging" stops.

Thanks for the help!  Doesn't anyone make airline bulkheads that could be used in this application?

Just silicone in an airline connector from any pet store that sells FW fish.  It would probably help if the container were fairly rigid as it will want to collapse when the fluid goes out.  Seems like it would be better to control it if you attached 2 lines together one for to the top of the container, and one to the bottom for fluid.  I could be overcomplicating this.

I just think with one tube you have to use a larger diameter hose so that an ait bubble can get past the kalk solution.  If you used 1 line for kalk solution and another line that went above the solution line in the reservoir to the airspace the second line could suck air as the water level in the sump went down and allow air into the space above the kalk solution.  What I don't know is if the weight of the Kalk solution would just pull sump water up the air line and into the kalk res.  Man, I know just about enough to be really dangerous.

Silicone is like duct tape, the aquarium handymans friend. For a good airline connector use the drip line tubing fittings sold at the hardware store. Elbows work great with a gob of silicone around them.

A tube coming out from near the top for air and a tube at the bottom to release water is exactly what I did for my last Glug Jug, one of those rigid rectangular 3 gal water containers for your refrigerator. I even put a goose neck at the bottom water exit (1/2" pvc) so that the end of the tube was sitting above water, not in contact with the tank water to reduce algae growth in the jug. This modification stopped the glugging sound so I guess this means it's a "hissing jug".

I would not use Kalkwasser from a jug like this. It would come out too much, too fast, and burn stuff in it's path.
