| Can you help me with some tabling acroporas information. What I'm looking for are names of the acros. So when i'm ready i'll be able to stock my tank. I think I want a tank full of them with all different colors. What do you think about the idea any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

to my understanding (which isn't much mind you.) Most of the efflo's are tabling acros. However, they are spendy. I just spent $150 for a inch frag a couple months ago... ouch ------------- rsm 250 |

Aloha Cuong, Seems like I remember hearing that some of the Acropora common in the hobby, that in the ocean grew in a tabling form, in our tanks just grow branches. From what I remember, there we two reasons: - lack of powerful full spectrum sunlight which in the ocean causes coral to grow a denser skeleton - lack of natural wave turbulence which makes coral grow a stronger skeleton I'm not sure I would want all tabling coral anyway. The shade causes a bare area underneath the coral. Examples of this in the hobby are the plating Montipora. Look for Acropora hyacinthus. Sarmentosa may also give you the desired effects. |

It makes a interesting build. I want to try something new and hopefully be successful at it and of course and suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Billyc, I heard those are very difficult to keep and will try it do you happen to have one and if so how is it doing? Danh, Thanks I will have to wait a little bit longer trying to get everything stabilized right now. Hopefully my containers will come in soon so I can hook up my doser. |

| Cuong, I am not sure where you've heard that they are difficult to keep? They are actually very hardy compared to other sps. Only thing I can think of is that those who are having a hard time with them is because they have wild pieces. Find yourself an aquacultured piece and it'll grow great and fast actually. |

I disagree that tabling acros are easy to keep. I was able to have pretty much every kind of sps thrive expect for those. I could never get any of my efflos to really take off. By the way that tank you posted is one of my very favorites. ------------- Indefinite hiatus from sw aquariums.
