In the 4 years of my tank I've never had an Aiptesia problem until now. What it the best way to get rid of them? I will also be moving the tank next month, would it be beneficial to kill them now or wait until the tank it getting moved? ------------- Jeni 435.841.2346 72Gal Bowfront Mixed Reef |

This usually starts controversy but in the 4 years I have had a reef I've had 2 "break outs" and each time I added 3 peppermint shrimp (purchased from Aquatic Evolution) and within a few weeks to months they are gone. I also used pickling lime mixed with a little water to make a paste which is essentially same thing as aiptasia X or kalk paste applied directly on the lil buggers with a child medicine syringe with pumps off wait 20 min and suck the paste out with turkey baster after 20 min. While that worked unless you have a massive issue I would just try peps. If your moving tank you can cut the rock off but once those buggers are out of water they shrink up and are almost impossible to see and if you leave even a cell behind they can regenerate which is why the lazer craze of a few years ago just made peoples issues worse. ------------- 65g Reef |

I'll have to try some shrimp, I just happened to go digging to see how much rock they were on. I was able to remove two coral skeletons and a small rock and a bunch were actually just growing in the sand, which removed probably 90% So I have like about 5 left that are attached to structure rock. ------------- Jeni 435.841.2346 72Gal Bowfront Mixed Reef |

Fish 4 u has pepermints 3 for $15.00 and they had a bunch a few days ago. Pepermints always worked well for me. Good luck. ------------- 2X250 M.H. and 2X48" VHO on a 90g reef with a 55g refugium. 300g fowlr with 3X250 M.H. and a 90g sump. 14g biocube mini reef (in the bathroom). 29g biocube mini reef in office at work. |

I agree with all that. I would squirt any i could see with some kalk (or pickling lime from the grocery store) to kill as many as possible. I would also add the peppermints, as im sure theres a few in there you cant see. If your breaking down the tank you could also boil the rock to kill them (and everything else). |

| It's manageable. I popped up with a few recently in my tanks. Took two doses of kalk paste shot on them to get them but I think I got them. Just understand that it takes some time and you can get them. Peppermint shrimp is a good idea to clean up the one's you can't see. I need to get some. |
