I have a problem, I installed a new light today but the brace on the tank is casting a shadow. Is there a problem with removing the brace? The tank is a 45gal, 36inch long by 24inches deep and 12inches wide. Thanks

Mike, the brace is there for a reason and if you remove it, you should replace it with a clear acrylic brace. I hope you like the halide.

I was afraid of that. Damn. Ok, A clear one it is. I do like the halide. My clam that I had up towards the top took a dive, Guessing he didnt want to be there anymore.

if the halide is in the center you should do 2 acrylic braces off to the side or run a 4" brace around the out side.

Once again, a sudden increase of light is not good. Run the MH for longer and longer periods over the course of a couple weeks to allow clams and coral a chance to acclimate.

Mike, eventually make it so that your halides turn on an hour after your other lights come on and turn it off an hour before the other ones go off.
