Our Prizm-brand protein skimmer (the piggyback kind) just stopped working after we cleaned it yesterday. We have no idea why. Any one have a suggestion as to what we might do, short of buying a new one? thanks.

When you say it stopped working do you mean its not creating foam for its not pumping/chopping air bubbles in the chamber ... what part is not working?

When you clean a skimmer it will take a few days to start creating the foam again .. it will need to re-season it self ...

What stopped working; the pump? Maybe it needs to be soaked in white vinegar for a while to help disolve some build-up. If it is the pump you could unplug it and then open it up to see if it will spin free?

The pump stopped working. I tried soaking it in vinegar, but to no avail. I ended up buying another one from one of the people on this site and it is working great. I LOVE THIS SITE because of all the help to novices like me!

Yeah - my return pump did the same thing last time I turned it off for a water change.

Note to self: buy spare impeller to have on hand!
