OK I spent the last hour or so playing with my RO/DI unit. come to find out that the water coming from the RO is 004 ppm now keep in mind this is Magna water where the tap TDS is over 900 ppm and I tested using 2 different TDS meters .. but coming out of NEW DI resin (about 30 to 40 gallons old) its 022ppm .. Whats the deal with that? .. I have always pushed DI water .. but after testing the DI water is higher in TDS than just RO ... curious to see if anyone has found the same results.

no mine comes out 0. perhaps a filter is bad? i know you said its new. or maybe crappy DI resin? or maybe the pressure is going through too quickly. you might need to back it off

Well .. I tested my tap water again ... for the first time since the water softener was removed .. its 380 HUGE drop from over 900 .. so thats all good and all .. but it still dose not answer the question as to why the DI water is higher in TDS than just plain RO water ...

Cl2ysta1, I tought about that as well .. but I was running it threw 2 DI chambers ... what are the odds that I got 2 bad ones? ...

Steve:

You're not running anything after the DI - like a "carbon filter", are you?

(My unit came with one dead-last inline; the carbon itself would raise the TDS back from a "zero" reading...)

Nope straight from the RO threw the DI chambers and to the tanks and fresh water water holding tank.

well now its going threw the RO straight to the tanks and fresh water holding tank.

I just calculated how much DI resin I have bought the past year ... 29.99 x 12 = 359.88 totally wasted .. Angry (not including tax) ...

My understanding is that once your DI resin is saturated, it will actually put TDS back into the water.
