Between now and the time I read a few replies I'm gonna go and look up some info on workhorse ballasts.  Can you use T5's, VHO's, PC's, or NO fluorescents on these bad boys?  It's my understanding that all you need to do is make sure that the load is lower than what the ballast can handle.

What's' the story on these guys?

Chris,
I have used T5's and PC's with a workhorse 5 ballast.

Yes, they are very versatile ballasts.  You just wire then a little differently for each application.

http://www.fulham.com/

just choose your bulb type and wattage on the right side, and it will give you a list of possible ballasts and wiring diagrams for said ballast.

Prior to running MH with PC on my nano I ran 2 or 3 T5 bulbs with a workhorse 5.

I used the wiring diagram at fulham.com to run 4 5ft T5 actinic bulbs on 4 workhorse ballasts.  I'm really surprised at how cool they stay.
Sold it all. Building a 285 with dedicated fishroom.
