Topic: calcium test Posted: January 27 2012 at 9:15pm |
Just wondering what test kits others are using. I have been testing with the nutrafin calcium test kit. The problem is I have such a hard time seeing the color change from pink to purple. The test kit is new which was just replaced. All directions are followed, and yes I do make sure I shake the 2nd bottle as stated. I would like to find a different calcium test kit to use that would be able to read. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I do like the Salifert test kits for calcium. However I just got the red sea test kit and the ALK test is AWESOME. I haven't tried the red sea calcium yet because I still have some salifert left. Check BRS and watch the video on test kits.

Another +1 for the Red Sea test kits. I currently have Salifert test kits for Alk and Calcium and they have been alright. My alk test is off by 2dkh so I have to adjust for that.
I just got the Red Sea Magnesium test kit and it is SO much better than the Salifert Mg test kit that I used to have. I really wish I would have bought the combo test kit that comes with Alk, Ca and Mg in one kit.
One really nice thing is that you get 100 tests out of the Red Sea Mg test and it costs $29. I know I didn't use my Salifert test kit that many times and it was like $27 when I got it. Red Sea has done a great job on the new kits from what I have experienced and read about.

I too love my Red Sea Pro test kit combo's. I have both the Reef Foundation (KH, Ca, Mg) and the Algae Control (N-NO3, P-PO4) kits. They may seem a little pricy, but they are worth every cent. Easily the best kit's I've ever used.

I'm still using up my Saliferts...been a while since I've had to buy. I got scared off by the Red Sea rep...he talked my ears off!! But, I'm glad to hear there have been positive experiences...and they aren't just the hype I was worried about from the sales rep.
