So, while I wait for my new RP to come in I decided to put a cover over my overflow box so my snails will go elsewhere other than down the tube to block it. Aaannnd this is what I noticed.

Whole bottom and a side panel are no longer sticking together like they should. Any suggestions?

Razor blade will clean it. It may scratch the acrylic but that will actually help the new silicone hold a bit better.
The bigger concern is that if the power goes out your tank will drain to a much lower level than the top of the overflow and your sump may not be able to hold the extra amount. I would work on getting that resolved quickly.

Glass is easier. Scrapes easily, holds silicone readily.
A new tank sounds nice until you think about how to manage the swap of everything without causing more problems. lol

Right now it doesn't seem to be as much trouble as I'm already having truthfully.

I agree. I would love to see you upgrade, my old friend. I have a very nice scratch free 75 gal I'll let you have for only $50 and I'll even help you set it up. I have a 20 gal long that would work awesome as a sump, but why bother with a sump and all it's troubles?

This tank (below) was set up and run successfully for 4 years as a stand alone reef aquarium. It was awesome. Yep, that's my old Blazer you can see through the north facing window, similar to your current set up! The light fixture you have now would work, supplemented with the 4' LED fixture that was used on this tank, also seen in the pic.

Mark, that's so generous of you but a 75 is to big for the area it needs to go in. By the by, anyone remember the type of silicon to be used for re attaching the overflow box?

Or, if you don't have a caulking gun, get the tube of DAP All Purpose Adhesive Sealant, 2.8 oz. It's labeled as 100% Silicone and aquarium safe. I have used it for decades for little jobs like yours. I keep a tube in my maintenance kit. Make sure the surfaces are dry. You don't really need to scrape off the Coralline, though it's a good idea. It doesn't have to be a smooth fit, because silicone fills in the gaps and adheres extremely well to glass (acrylic not so good). Note* The tube I last bought at lowes or hd was blue rather than green
