I know alot of you guys think that UV sterilizers are a waist of money but would they elp with bubble algea or aptatia. and if not has anyone used one and if so did you notice a diferance in water quality or anything/

It appears to me that the value of UV depends a lot on the type of tank that you have. If it is already fairly sterile like a FOWLR tank, then UV seems to help with disease control (not Valonia or Aiptasia, those are not waterborne diseases).

If the tank is well populated with coral and has a good live sand bed, then the UV is less likely to help the tank in general because of how it kills everything in the water.

Ozone used in a skimmer is a much better method for controlling disease in a full reef aquarium, IMO.
